Questions
What happens in a session?
Each session is an hour, we can meet in person at my East Grinstead therapy room, or via Google meet. I work with an integrated approach of talking therapy, cognitive behavioural models and personalised hypnotherapy. This is all evidence based and combined with mindfulness practice, compassion and care.
We work together, creating an effective process for you to understand your mind, and create the changes you seek for a more fulfilling life.
Who is this therapy suited to?
Adults, over 18 years of all backgrounds, race and sexual preference. People who are motivated to create genuine change for personal, sustainable growth. Those are open to learning new skills, and inner work to overcome anxiety, stress, poor habits, improved sleep and invest in self worth.
What conditions do you NOT work with?
There are certain conditions that I do not work with, it’s just that my current qualification and expertise are not suited for these conditions, but I’m happy to guide you to someone who can support.
PTSD, complex trauma, psychosis or schizophrenia, borderline personality disorder (BPD), bipolar disorder, substance or alcohol addiction, clinical depression & severe self-harm / active suicidal ideation.
How do we get started?
Please reach out for a discovery call, 20 minutes to talk, so that I can understand your situation and how we may work together, it’s a collaborative approach - so it’s important that you feel comfortable to be open with me.
I promise you compassion, confidentiality and care.
What happens at our first session?
Our first session will be 60 - to 90 minutes. Enough time for us to get to know one another, understand what is going on for you (thoughts, feelings and behaviours) and set your goal.
We will agree on a treatment plan, generally a total of 6 to 8 sessions, although this may vary on the presenting issue and support required.
All treatment is tailored to the individual client, my type of hypnotherapy is not scripted off the shelf stuff, one size really doesn’t fit when dealing with such matters.
What is your availability?
I work Monday - Friday 08.00 to 16.00 (UK time).
Do we meet on a weekly basis?
At your first appointment, we’ll discuss the frequency that works best for you. Usually, therapy sessions occur weekly or every other week. The decision is entirely yours.
However, I would like you to keep the date of the week and hour you committed for as this ensures consistency, playing a significant role in structuring the therapeutic relationship.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends. The length of therapy can vary depending on several factors, including your specific needs and goals for therapy and the progress you make. Together, we will assess these factors and determine the number of sessions required to address your needs.
For instance, relatively straightforward issues like specific phobias or life changes may require around 5 to 6 sessions. Whereas more complex issues may require more extended treatment.
It’s also common for people to attend therapy for a certain period, take a break, and return later on to address other concerns.
Ultimately, it’s up to you how much you want to work as therapy is a collaborative process, and the relationship between us is key to the healing process and the success of therapy.
I offer a free 20 minute discovery call to help you determine if I am the right therapist for you. My goal is to provide you with a beneficial and fulfilling therapy experience.
Is this the same as counselling?
Counselling is a longer-term talking therapy that often reflects back on childhood to explore the root of the issue. I work to understand present patterns with thoughts, feelings and behaviors, combined with tailored hypnotherapy and mindfulness practice.
Cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy, coaching, and evidence-based psychological tools to help you shift how you think, feel, and act focused on the here and now. While it’s not counselling, it is deeply therapeutic & designed to create real, lasting change on a shorter term basis.
We work together in an alliance, which is why the discovery call is important and free.
I want to ensure you have all your questions answered and are completely informed before making this investment.
How much does it cost?
For new clients, your first session is half priced at £40.
After this, I offer therapy in blocks of 4 sessions (60 mins x 4) for £300, or individual sessions at £80 per session.
All new clients are required to start with 4 sessions minimum if you wish to continue after the initial first session.
How do I pay for sessions?
You can pay by bank transfer or via a link which I will provide. Payment is requested to secure your appointment. Discounted packages need to be paid in advance.
What if I need to reschedule a session?
Please inform me at least 24 hours prior to rescheduling a session. A session with less than 24 hour notice of cancellation will result in a full charge.
Is online therapy effective?
Absolutely! In fact, research shows that it is just as beneficial as in-person therapy. With its ease of access and convenience, online therapy is the future of mental health support.
Take advantage of the free 20-minute consultation I offer. This will give you the opportunity to experience online therapy for yourself and make an informed decision.
What if I feel it’s not for me, or not working?
My clients lead their therapy, it’s a collaborative process. If, after the first session you don’t feel that this approach is suited to you, there is no commitment to continue.
If we have moved past the first session, I encourage you to bring any concerns out into the open. I will also identify any elements of discomfort or dissatisfaction and address these with you. We may agree to take a break, or realise that your feelings are behaviours linked to the goal that we have set for our work together.
